Footwork is very important as it directly affects a player's ability to move efficiently. It helps with moving to the best spot to hit the ball, maintaining balance, and generating power.

What do you train?
- Agility: The body's ability to react and change direction quickly.
- Speed: Training athletes to move within the fastest time for that pattern (acceleration, reaction speed, speed endurance). Training will be done in all three directions necessary in tennis (linear, lateral, diagonal).
- Plyometric: Training the explosive power of muscles to create the ability to exert force as quickly as possible (jump, bound, hop).
